48 Hours
By Dougal Irvine on July 9, 2009 at 10:59 PM
Rehearsals / Life48 hours till my plane departs these shores. The tennis is over (disappointing Murray, Federer made up for it) but I’m not exactly playing idle. I’ve been composing music for a touring production of The Merchant of Venice and we open tonight. Funny to think that in three weeks I will have two productions playing either side of the Atlantic. Feels pretty good actually.
Anyway, our venues are mostly beautiful historic stately homes around Kent (the kind of England you Americans see in the movies). I say mostly because tonight for one night only we open in ‘Dicken’s World’ a plastic recreation of nineteenth century England complete with water ride and animatronic pigeons! Not quite sure it’s what the people of Chatham requested of their local council but there you go.
Anyway, rehearsals for Departure Lounge seem to be going well as far as I can tell. Gutted to be missing the first play of the festival, I hope Zayd Dorn’s Reborning was a big hit and Zayd if you’re reading you have a cool name and I hope you’re still around next week. So, 48 hours. I reckon I’ll start packing in about 47 hours 50 minutes……
